Babywearing is such a wonderful part of so many cultures now and in the past. It has brought communities together and been a part of so many people's upbringings and traditions. Sometimes we can get swept up in the cost and this is just a simple reminder that most cultures have used a simple cloth, something as simple as this towel, to wear their little ones. Some carries have significant traditional meaning and are a big part of a culture. Learning these carries from those who were brought up with them is so important. In part because it is such a significant part of their culture, but also because they are the true experts in how to do it. This is Busi of @babuebabycarriers using a simple towel to carry her niece. It is a secure hold that positions a baby or toddlers legs in an ergonomic way that promotes healthy hip development. Cultures that wear their babies and toddlers frequently have some of the lowest rates of hip dysplasia. There is a lot of belief that the wearing of those infants plays a big part in that. Baby wearing practices were taken from many and it is so amazing that we have the ability to share all of these wonderful practices and ways of caring for our little ones now through social media. A lot of our communities have been dissolved and parents are now taking on what used to be the communities work. Having sources for us all to come together and learn from each other is incredible and wonderful. And hopefully, it will begin to happen more and more in person as well! What is your favorite way to wear your baby? There are literally dozens of ways to do it and each has their benefits 💗 . . . . . #babywearing #babywearingmama #africanbabywearing
