got obsessed with a guy for 10 yrs that embodied everything I felt I lacked (academic prestige, beauty, intelligence, charisma, etc) because I felt I needed those things to avoid abandonment/rejection by my family. trying to gain prestige/beauty/status didn't even help me; everytime I got into an elite program or I got a new cosmetic procedure, i still felt empty and I felt like I needed to level up. still trying to get over my obsession with him, but it doesn't help that this guy was the only person who ever showed me romantic attention.
