Should’ve pulled the truck out and put it straight down on dunnage. Or began lowering it as it cleared the truck.

when you lower the load, and you have tilted it backwards, the center of gravity is moved forward when lowering the load. very much notable when you are on the edge of lifting capacity.

He needed to bring load closer to near edge of lorry and move lifting chain as near as possible to the near side / heel of forks, that would have given more capacity and lower as soon as possible

F (weight) equals mass x acceleration. The weight on the forks increased suddenly when he spiked it's acceleration by suddenly stopping the descent. Why all maneuvering must be slow.
