Just a heads up that covering your thermostat can actually make it think your house is hotter than it actually is, thus turning on more often/using more energy than necessary

your thermostat reads temp from it itself covering it might work but not to full extent and can over run your fans

OK, I thought about doing this, but doesn’t it block the thermostat itself on what controls the temperature of your house? Wouldn’t it distort it?

Thermostat are made to assist and sensor temps to then generate heat or cool, covering them blocks true temps messing with system
