Little known fact. When naming the valley Rodrick P Winkleston suggested they call it Valley Resevoir with a Silent V so it would be pronounced Alley Resevoir. Ben Donnavan who was taking notes at the meeting scribed this as Silent V alley Resevoir which land registry presumed Silent Valley Resevoir and hence the name stuck.
