An architectural thought: megalithic structures were generally buildings, monuments, temples, fortifications that generally have a functional use. There’s no hint of an intentional functional use.

Could be sitting on a magnetic hot spot (possibly magnetizing iron within the rocks?). Ancient structures are often found at magnetic hot spots (they had a better understanding of the universe)

If you rock climb, especially on igneous rocks those knobs are really common. They're inclusions and climbers call them "chickenheads." We like them a lot because they are fun to use.
