We are already paying those prices; that’s why we need such higher wages.

The minimum wage IS a livable wage
It's not livable by Instagram influencers standards though
That's where the true problem is
Minimum wage doesn't guarantee you that nice apartment you see in movies

why is it minimum wage that will raise the price on consumers but if the board of directors give themselves a 50k raise each it doesn't effect us?

so if we assume Walmart pays its employees 14 an hour. increasing their wages all by 10/hr would be 43 billion per year, thats more than 3 x Walmarts net profit.

Currently we don’t need minimum wage laws anymore, the market is paying what it has to in order to get employees. No where is offering $7.25/hr.

what is a livable wage? we need to be more specific so we are all having the same conversation. does it mean a roommate? does it mean living independently? Does it mean living without credit cards?

Fun side not multiple economist have deduced that big businesses like Walmart and McDonald's could add 2-4 cents to each item sold and provide $26 an hour (1)

1) Define livable wage. 2) Does it make any sense for it to be federal or state issue when cost of living is so variable?

Or we could cut the outrageous government spending, lower taxes, and then more people could live on a lower wage.

What’s also crazy is that some businesses don’t need to raise their prices. McDonald’s is not going to go broke they will still take in billions they just want more billions

That’s where you think wrong cause those companies would still increase prices nowadays just to keep their profits, while at the same time certain people think that those profits will be reinvested

since the golden standard was completely let go. the worker has no negotiation power. if there is no scarcity(money printer) your hour of labour also has no value anymore. 1971 was the breaking point

Look, you pay a burger flipper 5$ more, that doesn’t mean the restaurant needs to recoup that loss on a single item. That employee can make 100 burgers per hour meaning burger prices go up $0.05 per

Surely if companies paid staff a decent wage they’d be able to spend more there by generating profits anyway so why is it so hard to pay people a wage to afford things
