We have been to Kansas City before but we had never fully explored @visitoverlandpark until this weekend! It’s safe to say - WE LOVED IT! Several times I said, “I can see why people love coming here!” There’s so much to do - parks, family-friendly attractions, great food, kind people and it’s only 3 hours from us in Northwest Arkansas. Whether you want to be outside in the fresh air exploring or having fun indoors, there’s plenty of options for you! Here’s where we went on our recent trip to Overland Park, KS. STRANG HALL - Wow, I wish we could’ve eaten here multiple times on our trip! Whether you want pizza, sushi, burgers, coffee, asian fusion, or tacos - you’ve got many options to choose from. Our favorites - Napa Kale Crunch Salad, Carne Asada Fries, Crispy Brussels Pizza and Red Curry Drummies) where . Everyone can choose from a variety of cuisines, then enjoy the patio, sunshine, and yard games FLYING COW - gelato place, kids enjoyed birthday cake flavor and we loved the peanut butter. This ice cream shop is right next to the Strang Hall patio. They serve fresh, daily-made gelato with rich flavors, lower butterfat than traditional ice cream, and toppings from their sister store, Annedore’s Fine Chocolates. URBAN EGG - We really enjoyed our breakfast meal here! They even gave us complementary biscuits and gravy because it was our first time! I liked their fresh juices and the breakfast tacos were so good. My kids of course loved the pancake flight! DEANNA ROSE CHILDRENS FARMSTEAD - if we lived here, we’d definitely be members! Don’t ask me how many bottles we bought to feed the baby goats! You could easily spend a full day here and it’s only $5 for admission. Kids 2 and under are free. Experience one of OP’s favorite family-friendly destinations, Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. Here you can bottle-feed baby goats, fish with an old-fashioned cane pole, mine for gold, race pedal tractors, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, watch a real-life blacksmith and so much more The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Garden. We enjoyed our walk through the property and LOVED seeing my son light up at the Train Garden. He was SO happy watching all the different trains cruise on the tracks. Children ages 5 and under are free. $3 ages 6 to 17 $7 ages 18 and up. Spend the afternoon enjoying nature at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens! Don’t miss the colorful Monet Garden or the interactive Train Garden. The boys will love watching the trains go above, under and by them on the interlocking tracks. TAP INS AT THE GREEN HOUSE - Great food and all day mini golf play! End the day with some family fun and dinner at Tap Ins at the Greenhouse! Tap Ins is an indoor-outdoor restaurant with 37 holes of mini golf, yard games, and more. Sit inside the bar & grille for dinner and hang out on the patio afterwards! MUSUEM AT PRAIRIE FIRE- This is one of the most unique buildings I’ve seen. $5 for all, kids 2 and under are free. The Discovery Room upstairs is full of interesting hands-on science and interactive discovery. The exterior of the building is made of Dichroic glass, which displays two different colors when viewed from different angles. It was invented by NASA for astronauts to use in outer space! STRANG PARK - This is one of Overland Park’s newest parks! Fully fenced and inclusive, my kids asked to come back and play there several times! Head to Strang Park to burn off some energy! This is the city’s first inclusive park, featuring a 30-foot tower and slide, a sensory tunnel, climbing cargo nets, in-ground trampolines, and a separate toddler playground with whimsical Farmers Market-themed play structures. MARRIOTT OVERLAND PARK KANSAS CITY - Loved this hotel! Clean and felt very safe and comfortable. And a double king room?! I didn’t know those existed. That was so helpful for our family of 5! MCLAINS MARKET OVERLAND PARK - this was one of our favorite food places on our trip. Everything we tried was so good - from the latte to the “Girl breakfast” !
