I had a Thai friend in music school, her name was something like “Visudisom Loonguin” and she told us to call her “Mau”, but pronounced almost like meow but not exact. Nobody could say it correctly, so we just called her Meow. She was super polite and nice always.

I live in Cambodia and they call me ជ្រូក which means pig. 😭 i hope in Thailand people choose less offensive names, but I think the jokes are the same. Not shy, and maybe little rude for foreigners.
