The first is a lob that's too flat, sitting right at smash height instead of climbing — give it real height so it drops steeply and can't be attacked. The second is landing it mid-court, a free overhead; aim to drop it in the last metre before the back glass. Third, trying to lob off a hard, fast ball you can't control, so it floats short — block or drive that one instead. Fourth, lobbing to their forehand where the overhead is strongest, when the backhand corner is far weaker. And fifth, never following your lob forward — a deep lob pushes them back, and that's your cue to take the net, not admire it.
