This is a consumerist's mind. We want to conveniently get all things. We've lost our connection to how real food is grown. How nature works. Now food grown commercially have lost a lot of nutrition.

Also it gives me perspective: if it took that many plants for 3 lbs chickpeas then the supermarket ones seem a good price, or I can see why a farmer's market would charge more etc

Some people really don’t get the concept of hobbies. It’s not work if you enjoy it. It’s fulfilling. Especially gardening. It’s awesome to look at the table and realize that you grew all your food

Sometimes I think taking part in the whole process is good for us so we know what it took when we buy it in the store. A lot of it is automated, but a lot is very poorly paid manual labor.

On a unrelated note. How much is 3 pounds of chickpeas in terms of food production?? As someone who doesn’t cook or use that much I’m generally curious. Is it like 3 pounds of rice? Or goes faster ?
