Sell your car privately. There’s a couple steps depending on the state (more $$). Or sell it/trade to the dealership. Pay off what you owe and keep the rest for a down payment on your next car.

gap insurance only covers the remaining balance of your loan that your insurance didn’t cover. for example, you owe 15k on the car, but insurance covered 10k, that’s when gap covers the rest.
