I started writing my first novel, not counting the various “novels” I started when I was in fifth grade. It’s interesting. Reading books and writing was my first passion. I used to even make my own books with printer paper, using cardboard to make my own covers. I loved it. But I have up on it when things got heavy with my family. I got into sports in the 7th grade and unconsciously stepped away from my creativity, using sports as an escape. I love screenwriting so much, and cinema in general, but with the ambiguity around this industry right now, and just reflecting on a lot of things in my personal, I’ve decided to write my first novel. For real. Finish it. The beautiful things is that my recent feature is the inspiration for it. I guess you could say the feature is my outline, loosely, for the novel. It makes sense. I did so much character development work for the script, and couldn’t let go of the characters. They’ve become my best friend. So why not explore them with so much more depth? Why not really delve into the world of The ACRP, the cinephiles cult the protagonist gets entangled with. Why not delve deeper into the mind of Lucas, the protagonist. And I must say, this is the most fun I’ve ever had writing a thing. And it just feels easier. It might be shit, but I’m enjoying myself greatly. 11,000 words in about 5 days. Now, I DO see a screenplay as a stand alone piece of art myself, but most people don’t. Sadly. And I think that’s an important aspect as to why I feel so motivated with this. When it’s done, it’s done. It’s piece of art that can be put out into the world. And all it takes is fingers and a keyboard. Not only that, but I think the novel could be a great tool to generate interest in the script. We’ll see. Just focusing on learning and improving. I will keep everyone updated. If you read all this, thank you. I appreciate you. Maybe this can be a sign for you to try something new yourself. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Listen to what your heart might be telling you. #quentintarantino #writing #writertok #screenwriting #cinema #filmtok #nevergiveup
