@pnw.bethany: It just blows my mind that kids who actually try really hard in school, get the crap end of the stick when it comes to getting scholarships and grants because their family actually works. Any tips or tricks on affording college would be appreciated! #college #scholarships #grants #affordingcollege #middleclass

She's in a rough demographic. My daughter did community college for 2 yrs and then transferred. That's when she got her scholarships!

I’ve been told by many parents and college students to do community college to get the core curriculum out of the way for cheap, then transfer after that!

US University/College system is broken. Too expensive for the broad population.

My expected family contribution for one child is a third of our total income. That is insane that the government thinks I should be paying that much money for one of my children.

Hello :
Maybe vote for people who believe higher ed shouldn’t cost anything (especially at land grant schools )

Same! We have three incollege this year, FAFSA doesn’t look at how many are in college at the same time, so qualify for nothing. Most scholarships are based on need, FAFSA says we don’t have any need.

Fill out the FASFA - she may still get federal grants. We ended up not claiming our youngest son on our income taxes during his Sr Yr so he was considered on his own

Why do they need to know how much I make? I’m not paying for college. Go off the students wages not mine 😫

They make you take “parent loans” now, they limit the amount the student can borrow now

I recieved more scholarships as a college student than prior to being one. So many available for “current students” that so many don’t know to apply for.
