I've worked clipboard but when is it ok for a facility to only have a bunch of agency nurses that is a huge red flag

From what I was told by and admistrator, if something happens to a resident while being attended to by an agency nurse legally it falls on the facility.

I really feel it is unsafe… because they also don’t feel they have to follow facility policy and protocol because they aren’t “staff”. Terrifying.

That’s something that’s good for the person who would like to pick up the shift as far as money goes, but not if you’re the patient or you have a loved one in the facility

Absolutely agree with you. Orientation should be mandatory or at least one facility nurse on each floor. The agency nurses assume a huge liability as well.

I do per diem cna work with clipboard. Most of the clipboard facilities are filled with nurses and aides from agency cause they don’t have staff. It’s dangerous honestly.

I think it’s a risk the facility should really evaluate. They have to maintain a certain amount of licensed staff in the facility and I think if they offered floor staff the same benefits as the…

Travelers and Agency need to be turn key when they enter a facility.,the things that you mentioned r things that u should know as a nurse, I usually call the DON with a few questions B4 I take assign.

I work on clipboard as well. And when i go to facility’s i asked to be oriented to the facility. This is our license so we are responsible for protecting our license 😊

Intely care asks for people to show up early for orientation where you can ask these questions prior to their first shift, but IMO it’s up to the nurse to diligent in finding out what they need to kno

I didn’t work agency during Covid because I wanted to. I had to quit my full time job so I could be home with my kids for online school. So I started working nights in different facilities. 1/3

lots of apps are like this but I will say most places I've been have at least one staff nurse. I usually do ambulatory surgery or ICU jobs. The nursing homes are brutal and I prefer not to work 🥺

As a nurse myself yes I do think an actual interview and orientation is important ❤️

As a nurse we carry a lot of responsibility either way. It’s imperative that you have good nursing judgement.

I did all of that too..the agencies are supposed to send all of your information over to the facilities because they're expecting you to arrive for shifts..

I think there should be laws that dictate what % of staff can be agency nurses vs regularly staffed nurses, specifically for this reason.

It's flat out dangerous. A unit is a unit no matter the building, but without orientation of some kind is blatantly neglectful by the facility. Similar situation and reason I don't work agency.
