@enrightauto: Communication is key. Just because a shop wants to so something a diffefent way than you. Doesnt mean they are ripping someone off. We are great and judging people without all the information and context in social media.
Also if you don’t replace them then they leak the costumer will complain and you will be doing it for free

This is exactly right. If you want to stand behind your work you need to not skimp or cut corners. Do the full repair. If customer has a problem with that, then they are not your quality of customer.

I usually don't offer the option. " You need a radiator, it has a connected cooler line which is rotting out. It will be replaced during the repair".

Here in new Hampshire the trans cooler lines especially Hondas fall apart when you look at them wrong, I always quote them with the job, if they don’t need then I don’t change them

I love this viewpoint and from a customer perspective I often ask, “While we’re doing this job, what else needs to be preempted that we can access during this job?”

I’m very simple about things like this, I don’t like doing things twice. If you don’t like the way I want to do things then please take your car to another shop.

Chances are, it will disintegrate during removal anyway. They usually don’t have a choice.

so true bro comunication is the key to success, but maybe I just have bad luck with profesional techs (ford and nissan dealers) not changing my oil filter several times, sometimes not even the oil. leaving subframe bolts completely loose all 4 btw just a few threaths in, leaving the car out of alignment. 🤦 profesional my 🍑

I respect a thorough job when getting my vehicle done right the first time. It saves time, and not having to return back. My father was always more thorough when fixing my vehicles.

absolutely agree. we've done a poor job in the industry as a whole, educating/informing consumers on proper repair procedures. definently boils down to communication or lack thereof
