I see pros and cons with this vs a sling. alot of pros in my opinion. in a hand to hand situation they can choke you out with a sling. the range of motion is also limited with this as well. not bad!

as LE in military how does this work close to the side as we have to get pretty physical sometimes and it connecting to the front like that would get in the way
