We are raising a generation that not only believes in themselves, but has learned from a young age to honor who they are, how they feel, and what they need. That, to me, is the courage and determination of the next generation, one that will, in turn, show us a path for our future. @woom bikes This past year, I watched my son find his rhythm in a sport in a way he never had before. We tried soccer and other sports he was curious about. He would cling to me, watching from the sidelines. I wasn’t concerned, I knew that was his way. I just tried to show up for him, despite the outside noise. I had one coach whisper, “Is something, like, wrong with him?” I responded, “No, he’s good. He observes before deciding what’s right for him. It’s something I wish I did for myself more.” Then, this past winter, he asked to learn to skate ski, so we signed him up for a Nordic Ski program called Ice Badgers, created by a pretty special person, Coach Shaun, it changed everything. The atmosphere of support and fun came at just the right time for Elliot. It shifted something within him... he found his rhythm, absolutely loving being part of the team and challenging himself. In the spring, Shaun organized a mountain biking club through our city recreation program. Elliot didn’t want to miss a single practice or race. He loved being there. I’m most proud… not of what he’s accomplishing, but of how he went about it—on his own time, in his own way—because a community supported him in the way he needed. #enjoytheride #communitysupport #raisingkids #consciousparenting #kidsonbikes #mountainbiking
