So a silk press is the same as a flat ironing: wash, blow dry, flat iron. the name silk press does add about $75 onto the price though. 😆

I’m ⚪️but my hair (especially the back) is very wavy and stubborn with heat. I find that after flat ironing each section, if I do a brush through with a blow drier set to “cool” it lasts much longer!

silk press is an old term. it's not a flat iron bc they used marcels back then, NOW we use flat irons. it couldn't be called a flat iron back then bc it simply didn't exist.

What you described is a blowout and flat iron. A silk press involve a pressing comb and pressing cream, grease or oil.

Beautiful job! Do you use Shimmer/Shimmering Lights to take away the yellow? If left in longer than the recommended time, it turns the hair bright orange. I know from experience!🤗

Heat protector before blow dry? This will help with crunchy ends? Because my ends be crunchy during my press, I hate to apply more heat to my ends and it still doesn’t help.

It’s the same thing but it is different from the 90’s press only because it’s silky rather than greased up. Less heavy products nowadays

A pressing comb is actually a silk press. Most stylists today do not know how to use one.

Silk press is not a modern technique I’m no beautician BUT I’ve been getting pressed since the 80’s and I just remember the press involving that hot comb set 🤷🏽♀️but her hair came out nice

Everybody's arguing in the comments over if a silk press is the same as just straighting, but I've had both done and like she said the silk press lasted longer. I don't understand why it does it.
