Could you sue for retaliation? You quit and provided notice (I assume in writing?) and now they terminate you? Sounds like retaliation to me.

once you put in your two weeks, they are under no obligation to keep you on after your notice. this is why you NEVER put in a notice. tell them the day after you start the other job

If that company requires a 2 week notice and you gave it they have to pay you for the two weeks even if they don’t have you complete the two weeks. This exact thing happened to a coworker many years ago. She gave two weeks notice. They got angry let her go thankfully we had someone that was HR certified in our department and they had to pay this lady for the two weeks that she didn’t work because they required two weeks notice and she gave it. Please check as they may have to pay you.

Depending on your work, they do have to accept it because you could “potentially” take accounts or contacts to the next job. I’ve seen that in my line of work. But, you should find that in a handbook

This breaks so many laws u need to look into this. An employer can not fire u because u resigned they can ask u to leave before ur resignation date but they have to pay u

Did you give your 2 weeks b/c you got another job? If so, tell them you can start sooner. If not, then IDK why it would be more financial hardship since you could afford to quit w/out another job.

We’ve been taught giving 2 weeks notice is the “right way” but all it does is benefit the employer and they don’t seem to be on the same team we are on. 🙄

Do they mean you're leaving immediately but get 2 weeks pay? That's how it usually works. If not, what made you think you needed 2 weeks notice? Is it in your contract?

NEVER GIVE A TWO WEEK NOTICE, JUST TELL YOUR NEW EMPLOYER YHAT YOU PREFER NOT TO LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE LOOKING FOR JOB.....TELL NEW JOB YOU NEED TO GIVE THEM 2 WEEKS. WORK AND GET YOUR MONEY

If you give your 2 weeks, and the company turns around and let’s u go immediately, I believe per federal law. They have to still pay you for those two weeks as long as you gave your notice.
