Should have the property seized permanently and taken under council ownership. He loses ownership, rents and cost of any sale.

My landlord ignored all the leaks, mould&🍄growing in the property, over 1.5 years, now water flooded the void, council pretending they're helping. Now I got eviction notice, I am alone in the UK

the bad landlords should pay compensation to their tenants for unlivable conditions

Wow! Seized! That's a slippery slope. Tenants should've been given powers to withold rent and use it for repairs instead. Or fine him. And use money for repairs.

The landlord is in wrong here but ownership rights should prevail

I think the council should do this to my mums landlady (she rents privately) and this landlord keeps on ignoring all of the issues the house has since 2015

So many councils don’t bother because they’re so broke they can’t afford to even investigate. Central government needs to fund councils properly!

So councils have been able to do this for 20 years now? This is great but what took them so long?
