Even though the 2nd option was polite & classy, I would go with the 1st one. Let people know on the spot that I did the job so next time the other person feels uncomfortable saying it

Office politics are complex. Pick your battles and don't always trust the people at the top to be objective or take your side. In theory its good to speak up, but not in every situation.

This happened to me but that coworker was my supervisor. Took all the credit thankfully I’m not working for that person anymore it was the most toxic work environment I have ever experienced.
