That will not pass inspection in a lot of cities if they don’t have a connecting point at the joist & beam(that’s why hurricane straps were made) the inspector will fail it

It may be ok in Oregon but not in any other states I know of. Must use Simpson hurricane straps in hurricane prone areas per Code. It’s not optional.

the better hurricane strap is shaped like a U, and use simpson 1.25 nails, nails 3 nails to plate board, and 3 on each side of rafter
this stops rafter twist in a storm. superior uplift protection.
