How to get rid of pests on your plants with a natural solution 💚🌱 Pests such as aphids or spider mites are part of gardening, they play their role in the ecosystem but they can severely damage plants & annihilate harvests. For Aphids, the best solution would be to have ladybugs as they can eat 100 aphids in a single day. However, if they are not there (this is the case for me this year despite having flowers such as nasturtiums) we need other solutions. I would avoid buying ladybugs as they won’t be native local insects. A small teaspoon of Organic soap or black soap mixed with water is a natural insecticide against many pests. I also mix it with the bottom end of a lemon as slightly acidic water can actually harm the protective layer of aphids. When applied, let it sit 15 minutes & then wash the leaves. Certain soap or acidic water can also harm the leaves, so do not forget to wash the leaves. If you have a doubt on a plant, before spraying, make a spot test on one leave, to see how the plant will react. Avoid also spraying leaves in direct sun as it can burn them. I use this solution for most of my plants when there is a big aphids colony, if the colony is small, simply rub them off with a brush and your watering hose. This solution works great against spider mites, and when you see how quickly this pest can destroy a whole plant, having this solution is clearly a savior! Green Love to you 💚 #gardening101 #organicgardening #gardentok #growyourownfood #fyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfyfy #vegetables
