I let a 15k credit card balance go to collections and was able to settle with my credit union for a $4k payment and it marked as paid in full! It is 100% an option!

First they have to sue you and then get a judgment and they can collect through garnishment etc. settlement is a better choice.

They have to sue you first. You can call and see if they will work with you. You will know before they garnish.

We are on the tail end of a Chapter 13 here. Like done after 5 years here in 5-6 months. I don’t regret it, but if you can find a way to not do a Ch 13, then def look into it.

Sometimes you can call them they will close the card and give you a payment plan until it’s paid off

I've been sued twice and neither account was willing to negotiate a settlement. I had to pay what they were asking (on a payment plan) otherwise they were going to levy my account.
