as someone who loves movies. its too expensive for me to go see an indie movie on a whim. im Ashamed to say that nowadays I only go if it's a franchise I enjoy or something I've heard is a must see

The cost of the cinema is crazy now too. I used to go multiple times a month, now its around 1 in 3/4ish, so I tend to just wait until its available online. The whole thing is getting ruined by greed.

i think its just the fact that tickets are expensive, people have to pick and choose what to watch since its like 20+ for ONE ticket

I miss roaming through video rental stores and stumbling upon random movies on movie channels. It feels like there’s no room for discovery. I think the end of dvd sales is a HUGE factor.

IMO its just too expensive to go to the cinema now so i have to pick and choose the movies I see and thats gonna be something i know i'll enjoy, the others have to wait for streaming sadly

The re releases of the Spider-Man films, Phantom Menace and Coraline have done so well so it shows there’s a demand in cinemas but it’s just a fight all the time

The cinema is too expensive, and the TV in my living room is good enough, that unless a film really really benefits from the screen and top end sound to give that wow factor (Twisters, Deadpool).....

a lot of amazing films just aren't being shown in my local cinema! all I've got rn is a ton of Deadpool wolverine it ends with us and minion showings Kneecap, blink twice just aren't getting shown!

I might be the minority but I just don’t see the point of having to rush to see a movie in theaters. I really don’t mind waiting 3to5 months to watch it at home.

As a bit of a fairweather moviegoer, I have a general impression that most non-IP movies these days are horror or horror adjacent, which I can’t personally stomach (I’m a wimp). Is this true at all?

just checked my AMC 12 and it has 6 horror (not for me), 2 kids movies (seen) twisters (seen) w&d (seen), a sad foreign movie, it ends with us (uh, no) & a rerelease of coraline (not in this economy)
