You’ve spent more of your life in America than Australia so what do people expect? 🤷♀️Many of us Aussies don’t have a bogan accent. When overseas I get asked if I’m English or South African.

We have a weird obsession with Australians not sounding Australian. I have a refined, eastern suburb, Melbourne accent and was often accused of faking an 'english' accent.

also as a neurodivergent person I mimic those around me. in a single conversation bits of my voice will sound more like yours.

I think a lot of people who move to Australia have trouble with accent. My MIL came from Netherlands and was here for 50 years and still had a strong accent but she thought she didn’t have accent
