this 50/50 approach to my business is scary because these two halves feel incompatible. designers criticize their colleagues who prioritize content/brand deals instead of design projects. creators look down on designers who “trade time for money.” i’ve been on the receiving end of both of criticisms. but- i honestly love both. the craft of creating compelling content AND the craft of developing a unique brand. i want to do both. and i want them to serve each other equally. it’s scary because i don’t know if it’s possible. maybe i’ll get stretched too thin. maybe i’ll end up being mediocre because i didn’t focus narrowly enough. maybe i’m being too much of a generalist, so i’ll miss out because “the riches are in the niches.” but this feels the truest to who i am, and i believe God made me this way intentionally—that this can indeed work, and i’ll be able to bless the world and God’s kingdom in a unique way by living authentically, down to the way i structure my business. anyways, i still don’t know what i’m doing. so give me advice because i need it 😭
