Think of it as replacing an aging internet box at home with a next-generation system: faster, more powerful, more reliable! Columbus is an amazing laboratory, but to make the most of the science conducted onboard, researchers on the ground need to be able to monitor and send commands in real-time to their experiments, and of course to downlink data 📡. CDMI aims at providing real-time communication and reliable downlink between ground teams and numerous payloads in Columbus, over LAN or Wi-Fi! Science is what drives us during a mission, but behind every piece of data sent back to Earth, there are many systems quietly at work.
