I remember writing a review for this movie in grade 11 when it came out and loved it more than the first avengers. Wasn't sure why no one liked it that much

One gripe I had is that they made Ultron “funny”. He could’ve been more menacing without the touch of Stark in him. The preview to this film felt like a horror story so I wished they kept that vibe.

I think an interesting part of this debate is what happens to Ultron. He is a hypocrite who wants human connection while despising humanity. The quips can be annoying but the thematic value in his similarity to Tony Stark makes up for it. He believes he is better and superior and hates being compared with Stark but he is ultimately unable to shake off his humanity. He is heartbroken by Wanda and her brother leaving him. He kidnaps Black Widow to use her as a captive audience. Not sure if it's a commentary on misogyny that he took her and not Clint. At the end of the movie, Wanda finds a dying bot and he warns her to leave because the location is dangerous. His genuine desire for connection is something that he cannot destroy or make "better". I ultimately think this is what makes him an interesting adaptation of the comic book Ultron because comic readers can't read and that aspect of the character has been minimized to the extreme.

Man, I love your take on this, and how well versed you are. I'm an atheist, but I side with Visions views of humanity as opposed to Ultrons. Ultron is destruction, Vision is preservation.
