@jparkervetphysio: Iliposoas Injuries‼️ This muscle issue can be commonly misdiagnosed as symptoms can be similar to other conditions. Often the dog will skip and may even be lame and have a shorted stride. The Iliopsoas is a hip flexor and adductor which brings the leg forward and inward, both the muscle and the tendon can be affected which makes it an extremely painful condition when acute. This condition can also present chronically where the initial injury has settled but it leaves us with a shortened weak muscle that contributes to an abnormal gait. Its taken 3 months between the 2 videos, its been a long journey but look at the results! Unbelievable the difference after a few months with you had made. from stuggling to walk some days to now not being able to stay still. He’s so much happier and acting like his cheeky self again. 🥰

Can this be misdiagnosed as a pinched nerve? My 87 lbs Great Pyrenees poodle mix had hip issues that started maybe 2 months ago, occasional clicking sound in his hip but otherwise fine. Last Friday he began having shallow breathing with spasms in his chest while breathing. His vet said his right leg has atrophy from favoring it. And that he is restricted in his hip, knee etc in that leg. They say he has a pinched nerve but I’m not 100% convinced. Gabapentin is just making him worse and the NSAID is helping slightly but he’s still miserable. I can’t help but wonder if it’s something else.

After nearly a year with no improvement. My dog had mri & ct scan and has been diagnosed with an iliopsoas injury with a 3mm bone fracture. Also has hip dysplasia mild- mod, but his right leg is the one that has been showing lameness, rotation etc. I knew it wasn’t his hip and had a sneaky suspicion it was the psoas, as it happened after jumping on a concrete balls so it was a sudden injury. But vets were constantly saying it’s his hip, but I knew it wasn’t. I’m so cross because I mentioned everything but because the x ray showed HD that’s what they went with. Even though he had no real signs of HD. I just find vets and other professionals don’t really listen properly.
