![[3pm 11/17/2024 Trang Tien Street]-The fourth Vietnam Traditional Costume Festival: Bách Hoa Bộ Hành 2024 - 'Winter 2024' by the creative group Bách Hoa Bộ Hành - Vietnamese Costume on the Streets will be open to the public from 15:30 to 18:00 on November 17, 2024. This event is part of the Hanoi Festival of Creative Design 2024, November 9-17, organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with Kiến Trúc Magazine. The parade also marks the 10th anniversary of the Vietnamese traditional costume movement (2014-2024).
The program was created within the vibrant atmosphere of the capital, marked by major events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi. Bách Hoa Bộ Hành aims to be a part of the Hanoi Festival of Creative Design 2024, introducing and sharing research, promoting collaboration, infusing new values, and creating a dynamic space for exchange among creative professionals to enhance the core values of the nation. It seeks to lay the foundation for fostering a design and creative spirit that is deeply rooted in Vietnamese identity within the creative industries.
Bách Hoa Bộ Hành starts at the Vietnam National History Museum, passes by the Hanoi Opera House and August Revolution Square, travels along Tràng Tiền Street, and enters the pedestrian area around Hoàn Kiếm Lake, with approximately 300-500 volunteers participating. It is the largest traditional costume parade in Vietnam, featuring various groups, including the Cavalry, the Procession, the Children’s Music and Dance, the Giao lĩnh-Trực lĩnh, the Predecessors of the Áo Dài, the Áo Dài, the Wedding, the Nhật Bình Áo Dài, the Vân Kiên, the Royal, the Modernized/Cosplay Vietnamese Costume, and the Free-Style Vietnamese Costume….
Bách Hoa Bộ Hành is a way to express love and pride for Vietnamese attire and the essence of Vietnamese culture. It is a celebration, introduction, and showcase of traditional and modernized/cosplay Vietnamese costumes. It provides an opportunity to share the passion of individuals and groups who are researching, collecting, and applying traditional costumes in Hanoi. This initiative aims to bring Vietnamese costumes (Áo Dài, Áo Tấc, Áo Giao Lĩnh, Áo Nhật Bình, etc.) closer to both domestic and international audiences. The name Bách Hoa Bộ Hành was carefully chosen to symbolize a celebration of a hundred flowers, a metaphor for the vibrant colors blooming from the Vietnamese traditional costumes that are gradually being revived, with crowds of people gathering together to celebrate.
