I kno a couple 3 doors down. $190,000 TFSA mortgage paid. And getting there pension. Remember $1200 there getting is tax free.

I make $110,000 a year. My gross on my last check was $6183.24, tax was $1586.68. That’s around 25%. I live in Alberta, and JT gave us a pipeline. 😎

I think people equate all the deductions from their pay as tax when there’s CPP, EI, along with any other deductions like employee health plan.

I think this "40%" number is floating around because people aren't discerning between income tax and deductions. After everything I calculated my deductions from my pay at ~33%. Tax is only 15%

I pay high taxes. But I've also had 2 parents who used A LOT of health care, 2 kids who got excellent public education and although it's not perfect I live in a safe clean country. Money well spent
