it may have been rebuilt in 1667. but the cellars are much older. I was told the bottom cellar was part of an abbey from the 1100s. but it's a great pub

Oldest in the Square Mile but not the oldest in modern London at all. There are at least 10 London pubs older than the Cheshire Cheese. Spaniard’s Inn for example.
