A family source that confirmed this to Daily Trust, said she died around 7pm on Monday at home. The source added that Hajiya Dada died at the age of 102 years. This was disclosed in a memo issued by the army authorities which SaharaReporters obtained on Monday while urging the soldiers to exercise patience, saying efforts were ongoing to ensure prompt payments of their entitlement. An army Sergeant who spoke with SaharaReporters had also alleged that army authorities had impoverished the personnel in the lower cadre with no increment in their salaries for years with some enduring about 12 years of stagnant pay. He said; "Honestly we the junior ranks in the Nigerian Army are dying in silence; for over 12 to 13 years; no salary increment, and we are seriously working without any benefit from our superior officers. I'm a Sergeant with 24 years In service and my salary is N81,500, while police constable receive N84,000 monthly as salary.” A Private soldier is entitled to N50,000 as salary monthly; even a warrant officer in the army gets N92,000 while their colleagues in the Nigerian civil defence collect N96,000 monthly as salary. The initiative kicked off on Monday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where the Programme Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), Michael Oluwagbemi, handed over 20 buses to the Oyo State Government’s Pacesetter Transport Service. Following the rollout in Oyo State, the next states scheduled to receive their CNG-powered buses are Lagos, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He explained that the buses will be provided to mass transit operators on commercial terms, with the funds generated from their use being reinvested to acquire more buses for the next phase of distribution.
