Yes, cash is legal tender however, there is no law that states a private business must accept cash. Tons of hotels are going cashless these days.

Businesses are not required to take cash unless required by law. Only government establishments are always required to take all legal tender.

Why are people hung up on the no cash? hotels don't take cash because if they damage the room, there's no way to charge them for their damages. it's not a requirement to accept cash as a tender.

I agree with him to be frustrated but the guy at check in doesn't make the rules the hotel does no point taking it out on him they're the ones being greedy

Usually when you book you're given a check in time. So just like, idk, read your documents and stick to what you booked 🤷♂️

It's a $100 hold on credit card for incidentals. Reason cash isn't accepted is bc many times damage isn't discovered until later.

I had this happen to me this week in best western youth hostel in Glasgow. they wanted a 100 gbp to be held on my card until checkout as a security deposit. wasn't great but released at checkout.
