Tbf you're in Amsterdam, tourists in hostals are mainly younger and are chatty, they meet people on travels and it's kinda a free for all friend fest. Also could be on a high, nothing wrong with that

I watched the whole thing and the guy was being friendly. Like people are in hostels. There was a bit of Scottish banter/humour that was taken the wrong way. I’m glad you didn’t show his face.

Despite him being conversational he still asked a lot of personal questions for a stranger and was persistent, they managed to get their luggage their together it’s always a struggle down the stairs
