in South Africa you cannot get a weapon unless you apply for license, competancy certificate, police inspection at ur house and no one is allowed

As a parent with guns in home , hell yes . There are gun safety classes for a reason . Laws need to enforce safety on guns .

Yes. Parents should be criminally charged should their child obtain a weapon & discharge it harming someone. It’s negligent parenting & negligent gun ownership if it’s their weapon.

I dont understand why u would leave a gun out & loaded. Thats so irresponsible. Definitely should be charged! I grew up around guns & my parents locked them up & we knew not to touch if they had out.

My dad had shotguns when I was little. Just in his closet. Not sure if they were loaded…may have been too rusty & old to even fire. That was in the 90s. Wish he would’ve had them in a safe…

I'm 51 and this kind of story has haunted me my entire life after a classmate in elementary school whom I was close with found a gun after school with their cousins. They were accidentally shot/killed

I am a responsible gun owner and absolutely they should be charged. But they also received a life sentence of knowing their dumbassery took the life of their child. They have to live with that

Yes, parents should be charged. If you have a loaded gun in the house that is not in a safe that kids can’t get in to then this is their fault. Completely avoidable. How devastating!!

There is another case here in Utah where a child found a gun under the seat in the car at a gas station and also shot himself in the head and died.

Ugh… I know a family with 3 young kids who leaves their firearms just laying out. Needless to say, they’ve have a fair warning and we don’t associate with them or let our child anywhere near them.
