I wanted to be an architect, but the amount of school was overwhelming. I found out in adulthood that I could have got a 2 yr drafting degree and been a drafter. U could still design a lot with that.

I vividly remember just randomly choosing careers based on what I thought I would like. No guidance from any guidance counselor was given other than getting you to look at college course catalogs.

I support this 100%, but as a poor college BA buyer w a low paying job, I do feel college provides enormous social & emotional value. Living w peers, learning, networking, is transformative longterm.
