PART 1 - ADDICTION YOU CAN CLASS ADDICTION IN 5 CATEGORIES You can class addiction in five categories, A, B, C, D, E. But there are three E’s, here at Shalom we only take in the E1’s. A - is a first time user B - is a person who has accepted drug or substance abuse is ok, they believe they are not hurting anyone and they enjoy it. C - Is a person who’s drug or substance abuse starts to increase to not just weekends but during the week as well, it’s beginning to take over their life. D - is a person who’s life is falling apart but yet they refuse help in the way they need it and keep doing what they should not because they enjoy it, they blame everyone else for why they are like they are. E1 - is a person who has hit the wall, everything has come to a head, they are either in jail, in hospital or dead. They have finally come to a place where they know they need help. (These are the ones we help) E2 - is a person who has hit the wall and just swaps their iligal addiction for a legal one. They go from Herion to Methadone or the go from meth to prescription medication. They are still wanting the kick in the chemical and rely on it to function. E3 - is a person who belongs in jail, they love drugs, crime, hurting people etc. They have no intention of changing because they enjoy what they are doing. How you help an A is different than how you help a B. You can’t help a C and a D in the way you want to but you can in the way you need to . E well there are three E’s, depending on what E they are is depending on what you need to do to help them.
