@ziggysrefuge: Meet River, the Unstoppable Survivor Have you met River? He’s one of the most remarkable residents here at Ziggy’s Refuge. River is absolutely gorgeous, but his story is even more stunning. As a baby piglet, he faced a grim prognosis at the best university in the country for farm animals. They didn’t even neuter him, thinking he wouldn’t be alive long enough for it to matter. That was years ago, and today, River is living proof that love and dedication can change everything. River is now nearly 600 pounds, and caring for him is no small feat. He requires a prosthetic leg that we put on every morning and take off at night. It’s not easy—he’s a heavy guy and very rough on his hardware—but we’re committed to ensuring he gets everything he needs to thrive. River has his own temperature-controlled room, complete with a huge comfy bed, where he can relax and enjoy the life he deserves. At Ziggy’s Refuge, our mission is to provide the highest level of care and love to every animal, no matter how challenging their needs may be. River’s journey is a testament to what’s possible when you refuse to give up. We dot every “i” and cross every “t” because these animals aren’t just surviving—they’re thriving. We’re honored to give River and all our residents the wonderful lives they deserve.
