You can also use an old microwave unplugged as a faraday cage for batteries and phones tested it and it seems to work pretty well

I feel like that EMP shield wouldn't work. from what I've learned, the only thing that can protect from an EMP would be a completely enclosed metal box with no openings.

Your generator doesn’t need emp protection nor does your wiring/breaker box. Your transistor devices do if they are not already hardened.

Electricity is a comfort, not a necessity in a SHTF scenario. And if the grid goes down, unless you have solar, a emp shield is useless. And having electricity is gonna bring bad things
