Honestly, I think clear communication is best in these scenarios. For instance, when you want to leave, simply express that. Howeverrrr, it’s customary to give a reason why, such as “I’m tired”, “I’m overstimulated”, “I have xyz to do”. The purpose is to prevent insecurity/hurt feelings that could arise from the host thinking you didn’t enjoy your time together.

If they ask if you want something to drink "just some water would be great" or "no thank you im not thirsty" is always a safe bet. But, also you could say "Maybe, what do you have?"

This is why I tell my kids to just always get their friends drinks and snacks. I always felt this way and loved my friends that made these things easy.
