Can you believe this is an entire Thanksgiving meal in a bite? 🦃 No chance of bland flavors here with the help of @TABASCO BRAND 😤 #AD #LightThingsUp
It’s crucial to distinguish between different types of screen time and understand that the impact on children depends on how and why screens are used. Not all screen time is inherently harmful—it is merely a tool, and its impact depends on how we use it. Educational content, interactive games, and even non-educational videos can offer valuable learning and social opportunities when approached with the intention of creatively incorporating learning, especially for autistic children. @Sesame Street 📔eBook on Joint Attention & collection of activities, link in BIO 🔗 👑 The Full Mini-vlogs on our education, therapy and lifestyle approach on the Instagram Subscribers’ Page 👑 📌 The information and awareness surrounding the negative impacts of screen time for children is very prevalent on social media. Instead of following blanket recommendations to eliminate screen time, it’s more practical to adopt a balanced approach. This could involve setting limits on recreational screen time, choosing high-quality and educational content, and ensuring that children engage in a variety of offline activities. However, as many of you know, I don’t set strict limits on Michael’s screen time. I allow him to explore his interests and capabilities, always with supervision and the intent to engage, communicate, and learn from his natural interests and self-motivated activities. Ultimately, the goal should be to use screen time thoughtfully and constructively, integrating it as one part of a well-rounded and enriching environment for children’s growth and development. By doing so, we can model healthy digital habits that respect the realities of modern life and foster a balanced relationship with technology for our children. 📌 Remember, if you’re seeing a "No Screentime" message from parenting content creators, there is an inherent hypocrisy in their advocacy to “get rid of screen time” while they themselves, as digital content creators, are using screens to consume, create, edit, and post content. They are modeling the very behavior in their own homes that they are warning against. This contradiction, alone, raises questions about the credibility and helpfulness of their advocacy. While they may cite some research to support their claims, it's important to note that much of the published research lacks nuance and fails to consider variables such as family backgrounds, learning differences in children, context, content, and the quality of screen time. 📌Using a tablet for educational content that teaches and provides exposure to various skills can offer excellent learning opportunities. And even passive consumption of non-educational videos can turn into learning moments if parents choose to 👉🏻engage with👈🏻 the child during viewing. Sending your child out to play alone isn’t necessarily better; the key is playing outside 👉🏻with 👈🏻your child. The same principle applies to screen time—engaging 👉🏻with 👈🏻your child while they use screens can make a significant difference. #heartwarming #cute #toddler #parenting #autism #ASL #signlanguage #nonspeaking #nonverbal #autismawareness #autismjourney #neurodivergent #parentingtips #representationmatters #cute #handsome #toddlermom #autismadvocate #autismparenting #parentingautism #communication #inspiration #motivation #milestones
