@ben.askins: There seems to be a lot of outrage over the ‘right to discconnect’ but I’m all for it #righttoswitchoff #righttodisconnect #business #worstboss
His issue is he honestly thinks he owns the people who work for them

The 2am example is called having an on call schedule and paying them for being on call

As an employer, I 100% agree with this. If you want someone to be on call 24/7 then put it into their contract and pay them accordingly.

If I’m expected to be on-call 24/7, then I’ll need proper compensation 🤷🏻♀️

The issue is how the law is written. It’s possible that the act of sending out a safety alert or a notification of a change to a work site could result in an employer being imprisoned.

Mr wonderful has a good point. Someone needs to be there in such events or an emergency line. Which I believe most companies have.

Unless the job includes something like “preventing a Chernobyl incident” then why would anyone answer a 2 am work phone call?

In Denmark if your boss needs you to be available at all time they have to pay you for all the time that you were available in even if they never needed you.

the issue isn't the additional work. the issue is poor compensation for my availability. I did have a boss that expected a lot of availability. he paid me well for it.

The only 2am phone call that is necessary for a workplace is if you work retail and the security company is calling to inform you of a break in and telling you the police are on their way to your shop
