Super common in Norway as well, we use the term "samboer." For me the essential thing is the quality of the relationship itself, not whether or not you're married.

I think a lot of people in Sweden believe that you can show true love without marriage, and the massive spending on a wedding 😂 but I can only speak for myself after all.

that's quite common in Finland too. When the couple has kids they have almost the same benefits as a married couple.

Why do you need marriage if you both love one another? Why do you need to get the law involved?

I’m French Canadian and we have the same mentality as Swedes when it comes to marriage, having children is bigger sign of engagement and love than getting married to us

I think that's common in Europe? In Asia we will get a lot of pressure if we have long relationships without married 😅

yeah i had a girl argue w me about that and said like americans get divorced like a) my parents have been together 30 years. b) as in most places, marriage is a tool to protect the wife and kids in

I’m Swedish and with 50% of marriages ending in divorce, divorce seeming to get very harsh, and some people staying married even though they really shouldn’t…hard to see any upside to it.

Was in a relationship for 9 years and told my partner early to not propose to me, ‘cus I didn’t want to hurt him by saying no😋Would never wanna be someone’s wife. Guess I’m super Swedish that way😅

Hold up....but in papers, does the government recognize you as married couples? I understand that most marriages are associated with ceremonies, but ceremonies isn't compulsory

It's weird, all my friends are getting married (in Sweden)! I wish it was less of the norm in my social context.

After 19yrs and 3 kids we still dont consider marriage, here marriage is just a legal state of a family.

It doesn’t make sense to get married before you have kids when marriage is only advantageous when you already have kids

I’m constantly surprised that other cultures are getting married at really young ages. Friends from the US got married at 22 and 23. What’s the hurry? They later got divorced so…
