2019 outback at the shop the other day,misfire a cylinder, low to no compression to that cylinder.taking the engine apart we had the same issus,tgv flap gone inside the cylinder head and jamed with the valve.

I’ve got a 16 forester xt that runs a little rough for the first few seconds on occasion. I know it has the DI 2.0 and probably has a ton of build up by now 😒

Yeah those TGV valves are a curse to all Subarus. just drill out the screws, remove the flaps and do a ECU code delete.

Yes, I actually work at Subaru as a technician and we have seen this happen before. It got so bad on a 2024 we had to get a short block and rebuild the whole engine
