2021 IOC Trans Athlete Policy by Sport (as of April, 2024) Track and Field | Swimming | Cycling 1. Must declare female as gender identity. 2. Cannot have experienced any part of male puberty either beyond Tanner Stage 2 or after age 12. 3. After puberty, must maintain testosterone levels below 2.5 nmol/L for as long as they would like to remain eligible. Gymnastics - No current policy, but there is a Gender Equality Commission whose work is, "primarily based on the binary notion of gender and therefore focuses on empowering women and girls in the sport of gymnastics.” Soccer - No new policy, but they do currently allow trans athletes. Volleyball 1. A player may change gender one time for purposes of eligibility, and must pass a review by a Gender Eligibility Committee agreeing that they will have no competitive advantage. They’ll look at the nature of the change, height, weight, muscle mass, testosterone levels, etc. 2. Only 1 player having competed as another gender can be a part of a team. Rugby - Trans athletes may not compete in the women’s category. Tennis 1. Must declare female as gender identity. 2. Must maintain under 5 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to competition, and for as long as they would like to remain eligible. Triathlon 1. Must declare female as gender identity. 2. Must maintain under 2.5 nmol/L for at least 24 months prior to competition, and for as long as they would like to remain eligible. 3. Cannot have competed as male within the past 4 years. Wrestling | Judo | Taekwondo | Boxing | Etc. - I could not find updated policies. Wrestling listed their old 2016 policy. Boxing is a big question mark because the IOC barred the IBA from organizing an Olympic event this year. Weightlifting There have been recent reports of “open gender” IWF events, and restrictions in women’s events to exclude athletes who did not transition before puberty. However, I could not find an official IWF policy for the 2024 Olympics.
