@alexanderelorenzo: Over the years, I've explored numerous ways to keep my cryptocurrencies safe, and trust me, the journey has been intense. From hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor to various Bitcoin wallets, I've tried them all. What I've realized is that centralized services pose significant risks. If a company like Ledger or Trezor gets hacked, your sensitive information can be exposed, leading to phishing attacks. Phishing is when scammers send you malicious emails or scam tokens to steal your assets. The solution I found most effective is maintaining a dedicated device solely for crypto transactions. My setup is simple yet secure: a standalone computer with just Chrome and MetaMask, free from email accounts and other applications. This isolation minimizes the chances of phishing attacks and provides a secure environment for buying and selling cryptocurrencies. Remember, most hacks stem from phishing attempts. By isolating your crypto activities, you safeguard your investments.

Software wallets (like metamask) are not as secure as offline cold storage in hardware wallet.

At some point you MUST connect to the internet to buy, sell, or transfer. Are there any special precautions to take in accessing wi-fi?

Makes no sense. A dedicated computer on the Internet is not decentralized if you use it to buy crypto. A safe way is to have a vpn firewall on your pc like nordvpn. All you did here is a dedicated pc

Air gapped cold storage imo. A laptop on a flat network is susceptible too if it’s not on its own vlan and you have a firewall. If it’s a flat network hackers could move laterally to that device.
