Bob Menendez (D), who resigned from office last month after being convicted on federal corruption charges. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) announced the appointed of Mr. Helmy, his former chief of staff, on Aug. 16. Mr. Helmy will hold the seat until Jan. 3, when either Democratic Rep.
